Obituary of Joseph P Placco

Joseph P. Placco, 77, of Stony Point, NY passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was born on July 9, 1937 in New York City to Maurice & Mary (Reynolds) Placco. Joe proudly serviced his country in the US Army. Being a dedicated family man he made his living for 30 years as a Boiler Maker & Welder for Atlas Boiler Works in the Bronx and B & K Welding in Brooklyn. Not one for retirement he kept himself busy driving a school bus for Haverstraw Transit these last fifteen years. He was a long time member of the Haverstraw Elks playing Santa Claus at their annual children's Christmas play for 27 years. Singing was his life long passion. He not only entertained at the Elk's Club but he also won the title of Princess Cruise Pop Idol on a 2010 cruise to New England. He is an avid NY York Yankees fan and a lover of baseball all his life. He enjoyed fishing and going to the beach. Joe is predeceased by his wife of 50 years Betty Placco, his brother John Reynolds and sisters Eleanor Venturino & Francis Eckman. He is survived by his loving children Donna, Richard and Kristine Placco all of Stony Point, his adored grandchildren Ricky & Jessica Placco and his cherished great grandchildren Anthony Ryerson and Peighton Placco. The family will receive friends & relatives on Thursday March 12th, from 2 - 4 & 7- 9 PM at the T J McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. A private cremation will follow.
