Obituary of Rosemary Byrne Greenbaum

Rosemary Byrne Greenbaum died of acute myeloid leukemia at Columbia University Medical Center on Friday, March 13, 2015. She was 56 years of age. Born in the Bronx on August 14, 1958, Roe lived in Emerson, NJ, and West Nyack and New York, NY, before settling with her family in Ridgewood, NJ. She received her Nursing degree from Skidmore College and was employed at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Saint Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center in New York. After receiving her Master's Degree as a Nurse Practitioner from William Paterson University, she was employed by the Veteran's Home of Paramus and at the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in Saddle Brook, NJ. Roe is survived by her husband, Dennis, and her daughter, Sofia, of Ridgewood; Sofia's two half-siblings, Sarah Menaul of Seattle and Joshua Greenbaum of Brooklyn; Roe's mother, Rose Byrne, of Rockland County, NY, her father, Joseph Byrne, Sr., and his wife, Constance, of Alexandria, VA; her brother, Joseph Byrne and his wife, Ann, of Maryland; her sister Tricia Tancill and her husband, Jeff, of New Hampshire; her nephews Dylan and Shane Tancill of New Hampshire and Keenan Tancill of Colorado; and her niece, Arden Lambert Byrne of Brooklyn. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, at the Church of St. Gregory Barbarigo, 21 Cinder Road, Garnerville, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial reception at the T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 North Central Highway, Garnerville, immediately after the Mass, at 11:15 a.m., until 1pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Roe's name in lieu of flowers to the Myelodysplastic Disease Center at Columbia University Medical Center, Irving Pavilion, 161 Fort Washington Avenue, New York, NY 10032, Attention: Dr. Azra Raza.
