Obituary of Isabella T. Rieger

Isabella T. Rieger, of Garnerville, passed away peacefully on Sept. 6, 2015, at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence. She was 93. Isabella was born in Austria, where she endured a hard life during the German occupation of WWII. She immigrated to Rockland in 1954, where she made a home for herself and her husband George in Garnerville in 1957. She worked for many years at Continental Can in Piermont, then as a master seamstress at Sam Barkins in Garnerville. Isabella is survived by her dear friend Fred Kohler; her goddaughter Carla (Tony); her niece Kristina (Tom), and by numerous neighbors and dear friends. She was predeceased by her first husband Franz, her second husband George, her two sisters, her parents, and by her longtime friend Kristina Kohler. Visitation will be held on Wed, Sept 9 from 9:30-10:30 AM at the T.J. McGOWAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, GARNERVILLE, with a service at the funeral home at 10:30 AM, and interment to follow at Mt. Repose Cemetery, Haverstraw.
