Obituary of Margaret T Bunyan

Margaret T. Bunyan (Browne), 79, of Haverstraw, Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 26, 2016. She was born on July 5, 1936 in Co. Clare Ireland to Stephen & Catherine (Cooney) Browne. Margaret married the love of her life Michael J. Bunyan on Nov. 10, 1956, he predeceased her in 1985. Margaret worked at Helen Hayes Hospital for 20 years providing exemplary care to all of her patients. Margaret was known for her unshakeable faith and her ability to pray unceasingly. She treasured her visits to the Adoration Chapel and spending time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. She truly reflected the Light of Christ. She was a member of the Pioneer Association (Total Abstinence Association of the Sacred Heart). She became a Pioneer as a young woman and remained true to her pledge for life. She was also a member of the Congregation of the Children of Mary. It takes for its model the spirituality of St. Louis de Montfort and his ideal of total consecration to Jesus through Mary. Margaret enjoyed listening to traditional Irish music, set dancing, she loved the Irish language and spoke Gaelic fluently. In addition to her husband and parents she is predeceased by her daughter Margaret Delaney, granddaughter Brianna Bunyan and her sister Kathleen Downes . Margaret is survived by her sister Mary (John) Scanlon, brother Thomas Browne, loving children Stephen (Margaret), John , Charles (Joan) , Catherine , Mary (Rick) Gustavsen , her adored grandchildren Lauren, Michael, John, Brian, Christopher, Mark, Kevin, Erick, Lily, Alexa, David and her 9 cherished great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces & nephews and faithful friend and companion Little Fat Jack her Irish Jack Russell Terrier. The family will receive friends & relatives on Sunday May 29th from 6-9 PM and Monday May 30th From 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Margaret on Tuesday May 31st at 10 AM in St. Peters Church in Haverstraw with interment to follow in St. Peters Cemetery.
