Obituary of Mary Alice Hurley

Mary Alice Hurley, 90, of Stony Point passed away peacefully on June 23, 2016. She was born on November 2, 1925 in New York City to Charles & Mary (Collins) Shiels. Mary married the love of her life William B. Hurley on Sept 27, 1952 at St. Paul's in Congers, NY; he predeceased her on Jan. 10, 1998. Mary was a long time registered nurse at Helen Hayes hospital, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed gardening, doing puzzles and playing cards and games, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren & great grandchildren; family was the most important thing to her. Beside her parents & her husband, Mary is also predeceased by her son Charles of Cornwall, NY, her grandson Stephen and her brother Charles Shiels. She is survived by her loving children Rita Milmore of Stony Point, NY, William Jr. (Katie) of Berkley, CA, daughter-in-law Joanne of Cornwall,NY, Thomas (Marybeth) of New Windsor, NY, Ann (Jimmy) McBee of Glenville, NY, John (Janetlee) of Camp Zama, Japan, her adored 20 grandchildren, cherished 14 great grandchildren, beloved family friend Michael (Chris) Huguenot and her caring sisters-in-law Mary Shiels & family and Rita Mullins' family, along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends & relatives on Friday July 1st from 4 - 8 PM at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Mary on Saturday July 2nd at 10 AM in St. Gregory Barbarigo Church in Garnerville with Interment to follow in St. Peters Cemetery.
