Obituary of Carl J Piro

Carl J Piro 38 of Astoria NY passed away on Saturday October 8th 2016. Born to loving parents James A Piro and the late Eileen Foley. Carl was raised in a loving household along with five siblings in the heart of astoria. As a child, Carl attended Most Precious Blood Catholic School from kindergarten through 8th grade and even had the distinguished honor to serve as an alter boy during mass. As a teenager, he attended Monsignor McClancy High School for boys and after graduation, Carl took on a career with the Steamfitters Local 638 which became his passion. Well known, loved and respected by all, Carl Piro was known as the Mayor of Astoria. And one, could always find the mayor at his chambers located on 31st avenue with his life long friends. Family and friends meant the world to him and his devotion to The ones he held dear was unmeasurable by any means. Carl was an avid fan of the New York Rangers and the New York Yankees; always going to games with his brother Michael or enjoying them on a couch alongside his family. Halloween was a holiday that came along and out came the Michael Myers outfit. It was as much a staple as his trusty blue yankees hat. Carl's private time was spent watching all the classic movies and TV shows, The Honeymooners, Family Guy or listening to some classic rock. One could always find Carl spending quality time with his family especially his nieces and nephews; accompanying Joey and Jackie to their games or walking with James, Madison, Brigette and Brooke to the lake to feed the ducks. Carl eventually became "Uncle Uber" well known in Greenwood Lakes and Staten Island to all the neighboring mothers and families. They trusted Carl to take all their children to school, practices, all their games, or for a simple ice cream run. He was trustworthy available and kind. Predeceased by his Mother Eileen Piro, brother Jimmy Piro, Grandmother Nanny, Uncle Roger Lawton, Grandpa Piro and Mario. Carl is survived by father James A Piro, brother Michael Piro, Sisters Jeannine & (Joey) Cina Donna Piro, Christine & (Ryan) Healy, Uncle James Foley, Aunt Maureen Lawton, Grandmother Helen Piro and Nieces & Nephews Joey, Jackie, Brigette, Brooke, Madison, James and baby TBA. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home.
