Obituary of Michael M. Palkovic

Michael M. Palkovic Jr. of West Haverstraw, NY passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the age of 81. Michael was born on August 26, 1935 in Nyack, NY, the son of Theresa and Michael Palkovic Sr. of Piermont, NY. He was married to the love of his life for 55 years, Joan Rabatin. After graduation from Tappan Zee High School, he served in the Air Force for four years. He worked as a steel rule diemaker for Federal Paper Board in Piermont for 32 years until they closed. He then worked for Innovative Plastics in Orangeburg. Michael also worked for Lederle Labs in Pearl River for seven years as a Graphic Arts Manager. Michael served as president of the West Haverstraw Senior Citizens' Club for six years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with his children and grandchildren, reading history books and building model railroads. Michael is survived by his loving wife Joan, by his devoted children: Michelle Goodman of Glastonbury, CT; Mary Ellen Murphy of Washingtonville, NY; Terry Sullivan and her husband James of Rock Tavern, NY; Michael Palkovic of Estero, FL; and Kevin Palkovic and his wife Melissa of Canastota, NY. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Emily and Zachary Goodman, Devin and Lauren Murphy, Alec, Kyra, Jillian and James Sullivan, and Michael, Joseph and Elizabeth Palkovic; and by his brother Thomas Palkovic and his wife Irene of Tampa, FL. He was predeceased by his daughter Jamie Ann. Michael's family will receive friends on Thursday, November 3, and Friday, November 4, 2016, from 2-4 & 7-9PM at T.J. McGOWAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, 133 Broadway, HAVERSTRAW. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Michael on Saturday, November 5 at 10AM at St. Peter's Church, Haverstraw, with interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Haverstraw.
