Obituary of Joseph T Scanlon

Joseph (Joe) T. Scanlon of Garnerville NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2016. Joe was born on May 5, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Franklin Lane High School in Brooklyn and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1951. He proudly served in the Korean War. Joe was immensely proud to be a United States Marine and was rarely seen without his Marines hat or shirt. He retired from the Salvation Army College for Officers Training in June, 2015. Joe enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, his wife Rosemarie (Bobbsey) of 61 years and his family. He enjoyed old movies, fishing, painting, singing and dancing. He always looked forward to singing at the annual Salvation Army College for Officers Training Christmas Celebration. He was adored by his many nieces and nephews. He is survived by his lovely wife Rosemarie Scanlon, his sister Evelyn Raser, his sister-in-law Beverly Iametti, brother-in-law Alfio Iametti, as well as many proud nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Jenny and William Scanlon, sister's Jane, Ann and Margaret & brothers Barney, Billy, Walter, John and Eddie. His family and friends will honor the life of Joseph on Tuesday, November 15th from 7-9pm and Wednesday, November 16th from 4-8pm. at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home; 71 North Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place at St. Gregory Barbarigo; 21 Cinder Road, Garnerville, NY @ 10am on Thursday, November 17th. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery; Route 9W, Haverstraw, NY.
