Obituary of Hon. Peter Branti

Hon. Peter Branti Jr, 79, of Pomona formerly of Haverstraw passed away on December 23, 2016. He was born on August 31, 1937 in West Haverstraw to Peter Sr. and Loretta (Natale) Branti. Peter married the love of his life Ann Spissinger on August 25, 1962 in St Peters Church in Haverstraw. He served proudly in the United States Navy Reserve. Peter was an attorney who had his own practice for 46 years; he also was a Justice for the Town of Haverstraw and Village of West Haverstraw for 20 years. Peter was an Assistant District Attorney & Chief Public Defender (1978-1993) for Rockland County. He also served as a Legislator for the County of Rockland for 4 years. Peter was member of the New York Bar Assoc. In his spare time Peter enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf but most of all he really enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is predeceased by two sisters Theresa Marko & Marie McKeirnan. Peter is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Ann of Pomona, his beloved children Peter (Susan) of Highland Mills, William (Helene) of Haverstraw, Jennifer of Haverstraw, his adored & cherished grandchildren PJ, Jake, Lucy, Peter and his caring sister Loretta (Peter) Garifalos of Westwood, NJ, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends and family on Tues. Dec 27th from 4 - 8 PM at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Peter on Wednesday Dec. 28th at 10 AM in St Peters Church in Haverstraw with interment to follow in St Peters Cemetery.
