Obituary of Catherine Twibell

Catherine Mary (Underwood) Twibell passed away peacefully with her family at her side, ending her twelve year battle with Parkinson's Disease. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Kevin, her daughters, Kerry and Tara, son in law, Ramin Hastings and her granddaughters Fiona and Soraya, who were the loves of her life. She is also survived by her sister, Eileen Kehrbaum, and her brother, William Underwood. She was predeceased by sister, Patricia Ferring. Cathy was a cum laude graduate of Hunter College and received a Masters Degree from Lehman College. She taught kindergarten at St. Pancras in Glendale, NY, elementary school for the NY Board of Education at St. Dominic's in Orangeburg and pre school at Children of Mary in Garnerville and Jawonio in New City, NY. She loved her work and did her job with unending patience and compassion. Cathy enjoyed sewing, sailing, skiing, golfing, tennis, biking and any other sport Kevin could talk her into. She loved rooting at her daughters' athletic events. She was a former member of the Rockland County Volleyball Officials Association. She will be missed by her many friends who were so supportive throughout her life and especially in her most difficult days. The family is eternally grateful to her caregiver, Nell Singh. Visiting will be at TJ McGowan Funeral Sons Funeral Home at 71 Central Hwy, Garnerville on Wed, January 4. Funeral Mass at St Peter's Church,115 Broadway, Haverstraw on Thursday, January 5 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family would be so grateful for any donation in memory of Catherine Twibell to the Michael J Fox Foundation.
