Obituary of Edythe L. DeGroat

Edythe L. DeGroat, 88 of Stony Point passed away on January 21, 2017. She was born February 21, 1928 in Staten Island to Nathan & Rosemarie Janota Vanger. Edythe married the love of her life Robert H. DeGroat Sr. on Jan. 31, 1948 in Staten Island He predeceased her in 1990. She worked for Rockland Chrysler in Nanuet for over 20 years. Edythe was at one time a member of the North Rockland Lions Club. She enjoyed taking walks and going shopping. She was devoted to her two dogs Lilly and Finney. Besides her husband Robert Edythe was predeceased by her Grandson Curtis Jeffs, her granddaughter Carly Jeffs and her brother Robert McQuilen. Edythe is survived by her loving children Robert H DeGroat Jr.(Marion) of Carmel, NY, Rae Jeffs of Garnerville, her devoted grandchildren Kimberley Attigliato, Justin (Sybil) Jeffs, her cherished great grandchildren Nicholas McCann, Joseph McCann, Jack Stasi and Kieran Jeffs, her brother Alvin Vanger of Staten Island and her beloved sisters in-law, nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends & relatives on Tues. Jan 24th At the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home 133 Broadway Haverstraw, NY from 3 - 8 PM. Services will be on Wednesday at 11 AM at the funeral home with interment to follow in Mt Repose Cemetery in Haverstraw.
