Obituary of Robert Joseph Hussey

Robert Hussey of West Haverstraw died on February 27, 2017. Bob married Margaret Keegan in NYC in 1958 and moved to West Haverstraw in 1967. He was one of the last of the original buyers in Samsondale. Bob served in the US Army and retired from the Army Reserves after 20 years of service. He was a proud member of the NYC Police Department's 20th Precinct. He also taught at Cardinal Hayes High School and at Albertus Magnus High School from 1986 to 1998. Bob was always telling his grandchildren "war stories" and make-believe adventures and as they grew older, they realized that their beloved Poppa had a gift for making up stories. Bob is survived by his daughter Linda Blanco and her husband Louis; his son Patrick "PJ" Hussey and his wife Kari; and his daughter Denise Mallon and her husband Brendan. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Courtney and Brendan Mallon, Patrick, Steven and Nikki Hussey, and Matthew and Danielle (Mimi) Blanco. He is also survived by his dear friend Peggy Moyer. Bob's family will receive friends at the T.J. MCGOWAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, 71 N. Central Highway, GARNERVILLE, on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 3-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Bob on Saturday, March 4 at 10 AM at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church in Garnerville, with interment to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may donate in Bob's memory to Albertus Magnus High School, 798 Rt. 304, Bardonia NY 10954.
