Obituary of Ernst Mariette

Ernst "Enzie" Jean Mariette of Haverstraw, NY passed away on Thursday, April 6th. Born on June 26, 1941, he was the second eldest child of Edith (Clesca) and Ernest Mariette. Ernst was raised in the Bronx NY. Ernst was educated in catholic school until attending Morris High School. Attended Bronx Community College and also completed certification courses to become a Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor. Ernst went on to serve time in the United States Army. In 1967 joined the New York City Police Department and served as a patrol man until his retirement in 1987. Ernst then began working as a substance abuse counselor for the NYPD, then moving on to Bronx Betterment Committee and Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in the Bronx. Ernst was an ancient free mason and member of the Most Worshipful Alpha Grand Lodge; Hiram Lodge #2 for over 30 years, and achieved the status of Past Potentate of Nemesis furthermore currently held the title of Intimate Commander of Knight Template, St. Andrews. Representing the lodge he was very active in community, for many years. Ernst and his lodge members were known for annually serving Thanksgiving dinner to people in need. In June of 1967 Ernst married is high school girlfriend Darlene (Canada) they lived in the Bronx and 1971 moved Haverstraw, NY. In Haverstraw is where Ernst & Darlene raised their children Nichole & Andre. Ernst appreciated music especially jazz and R&B and never shy he always had a story to tell. Also enjoyed going to the beach and watching NY Mets games. Ernst was also an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Garnerville, NY serving as a head acolyte. Ernst was survived by his wife Darlene (Canada), Daughter Nichole, son-in-law Heath Bethune, Son Andre, daughter in law Sheri (Francis), and 3 children Xavier, Jaxon and Alexa, sister Gislene, brother Franz and many nieces & nephews. Ernst was preceded by his mother Edith (Clesca), father Ernest, brothers Alix and Carl and in-laws Leon & Lorraine Canada.
