Obituary of John R. LaCour

John R. LaCour passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17th, 2023.   John was 88 years old.  John was born in Manhattan, NY on October 8, 1935 to Edna and William LaCour.  John worked as an Iron Worker in NYC and was a member of Local 40 for 65 years.  John served in the US Army for 2 years.  John married the love of his life, Magdalena, on February 11, 1962.  They moved to Spring Valley in Rockland County, and shortly thereafter to Garnerville, NY where they raised their three children and continued to reside.  John deeply cherished his family; he loved spending time with his family and friends.  He greatly enjoyed the time he spent at the Jersey Shore spending hours fishing, crabbing, swimming in the ocean and just being with family.  His greatest joy came from spending summers at the Jersey shore with his grandchildren.  John was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing vegetables from his garden with all his neighbors. John was a kind and caring man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. John is survived by his beloved Magdalena, and 3 children, Karen Regina (Frank), Bill (Noreen) LaCour, Patricia LaCour, his grandchildren Kaitlyn and Michael and his sister Ann Marie Kilduff and many nieces and nephews.  John is predeceased by his brother Joe Hanlon. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 21st, from 4-8pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 North Central Highway, Garnerville, NY.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 22nd, 11 am at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, Garnerville, NY.  Internment at Mt. Repose Cemetery, Rt 9W Haverstraw, NY.
