Obituary of Valentina Berardi

Valentina Berardi, (nee Lukasewski) of Pomona, passed away on December 11th at the age of 99. Val was born in the Bronx to Constantine and Anna Adamkiewicz Lukasewski, the youngest of 7 children. She graduated ftom Jane Adams High School.  In 1939 she met Joseph (Joe) and they wed on July 25th 1944 having been married over 58 years at the time of Joe's passing in 2003. They raised their four children; Jo Ann,  Patricia,  Donna and Joseph in the Bronx before moving to Rockland County. Val loved cooking for her family and over the decades she made countless meals for holidays and family celebrations, her stuffing was legendary and a family favorite. 

Val was predeceased by her two brothers and four sisters, husband Joe, daughter Jo Ann and several nieces and nephews.  She is survived by three children, 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered for her delicious food, quick witted comebacks and her love of Big Band era music.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday December 19th,  9-1030 at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home, Garnerville NY. Funeral mass to follow at 11am at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, Garnerville.  Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Dominican Sisters of Sparkill NY, Haverstraw Volunteer Ambulance Corp or your local animal shelter.
