Obituary of Douglas F. Malin

Douglas F. Malin, 82, passed away on December 3, 2023 with his loving family by his side.  Doug was born in Manhattan, NY on March 26, 1941 and moved to the Bronx as a young child.  He attended Our Lady of Mercy grammar school and graduated from DeWitt Clinton HS in 1959.  He served in the United States Marine Corps  for 4 years and remained a proud Marine. 

He married his loving wife of 58 years, Ann Connolly Malin, on September 11, 1965 in Bronx, NY.  before later moving to Rockland County.  Doug joined the NYPD where he spent the next 23 years before retiring as a Detective.  He was a member of the American Legion for the remainder of his life and served in many 

capacities, including Photographer, a job he loved.  He remained very active, loved visiting Florida during the winters and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Ann, his sons Peter (Bettina), Donald (Fran), Frank (Sue), his loving grandchildren Kaitlin, Michael, Haley, Connor and Madison.  He is also survived by his sister Donna McNamara (Gene), 

his brother-in-law Bill Connolly (Shelly), who he frequently referred to as his first son, his sister-in-law Helen Burke and his nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, 12/6 from 4-8pm @ T.J. McGowan Funeral home, 71 Central Highway, Garnerville, NY 10923.  Funeral Mass will be Thursday, December 12/7 @ St. Gregory Barbarigo church, 25 Cinder road, Garnerville, NY 10923.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Legion, Dept. of NY, 1304 Park Blvd,. Troy, NY 12180, with notation for BE THE ONE, or the Multiple Myeloma Foundation.
