Obituary of Jane Kumpf

Jane Kumpf, 76, of Stony Point, passed away August 1, 2023 peacefully with her loving family by her side. Jane was a one-of-a-kind, caring, brave, creative and spirited woman who lived her life with purpose. Born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on April 29, 1947 to Edwin and Amelia Szwarczewski, Jane’s family lived on Long Island before settling in Pearl River, where she attended St. Margaret’s Parish, Pearl River HS, Rockland Community College and Dominican College, becoming a dedicated RN in regional hospitals, with ARC of Rockland and during retirement, as a home care nurse. 

The holidays and seeing her loved ones smile, especially her adored grandchildren, would light up her face. She attended every event, game, and “first”, and loved being a Nana to all who blessed her with the title. She was an artist, enjoyed home projects, gardening, and creating family vacations. Her two daughters were her pride and joy. Jane was a highly devout Catholic who dedicated her time to local churches, charities, choirs, and organizations. Her happiest places were at the ocean, lakeside or the riverfront in Stony Point, the town she made her home for 47 years. 

Jane is predesist by her father, Edwin, mother, Amelia (Golanski), and brother Francis. Jane is survived by her two daughters Kristine Kumpf and Michele (Kevin) Burns, her three grandchildren Kevin, Karlee, and Madelyn, her cousin Nancy, beautiful extended family and life-long friends who adored her kindness, strength, spirit and love for giving. 

Visiting hours will be on Friday, August 11, from 4:00pm-8:00pm at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home on 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, August 12, 10:00am at St. Peter & St. Mary’s Church, Haverstraw, NY. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, 36 W. Nyack Rd, Nanuet, NY 10954.
