Obituary of Jose N. Martinez

Jose N. Martinez Polanco (Pito as he was known) passed away peacefully at the age of 96 with his beloved family by his side on July 23rd, 2023. Pito was born in Tamboril, Dominican Republic on May 12, 1927 to Jacinto Martinez Rosario and Edelmira Polanco Blanco. He came to the United States in the late 1950s residing in Haverstraw for all those years until his death. Pito married Ana Lucia Martinez (Arias) the love of his life who predeceased him on January 1, 2012. He is survived by his 6 children and their spouses Yoel (Agueda), Julio (Rafaela), Mayra, Amarfis (Juan), Jose (Carmen) and Juan Pablo (Edith). He is also survived by his loving 24 grandchildren, 27 greatgrand children and 1 great great grandchild. Pito was predeceased by his 7 siblings.

Family will receive friends and family to celebrate his life on Thursday, July 27th from 4pm-8pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home (Haverstraw). Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 28th at 10am at St. Peter’s Church followed by interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Haverstraw.
