Obituary of Lucy S. McCann

Lucy McCann, 83, devoted mother, Granny and wife passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2023. Lucy was born on January 1, 1940 to Margaret and Patrick Sherlock in Gurteen, County Sligo Ireland. At the age of 17 she emigrated to the United States. On May 23, 1970 Lucy married the love of her life Thomas McCann, and was blessed with 4 children. In 1975, Thomas and Lucy moved their family from Kearny, New Jersey to Stony Point, where they made amazing life-long friends.  Lucy was an exceptional wife, mother and Granny that devoted her life to the family she loved so much.  Lucy enjoyed spending time with her family both here and in Ireland and England. Lucy retired from the County of Rockland after 18 years of service.

She is survived by a loving family; three children, Brigid, Margaret (Mark), Patrick (Regina); and 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Ailish, Riley, Thomas and Patrick; sister Brigid Hanley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lucy is predeceased by her beloved Husband Tom and son Rory, brothers Michael Sherlock, Bart Sherlock and sister Ann Sherlock Gaffney.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 12  from  4:00p.m.-8:00 pm at  T.J. McGOWAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 13th, 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, Stony Point, NY. Burial will follow at  Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery 220 Brick Church Rd, Spring Valley, NY 10977
