Obituary of Claire M. Ruane

Claire M. Ruane (Jauntig) of Stony Point, New York, passed away on January 29, 2023.

Claire was born to Thomas F. Jauntig, Sr. and Claire Jauntig(Mannion) on April 14, 1943. Claire was passionate about her career as a teacher in the South Orangetown School District where she taught for over 30 years. She taught English and Spanish at all levels at Tappan Zee High School. Claire’s students brought her so much joy. Stories of her “adventures” with them would be joyously retold to family and friends over the years.

The senior class of 1974 dedicated their yearbook, The Half Moon, to Claire. The dedication read, “Out of the classrooms and into the halls cannot hurt you. You know too much for that. You teach too much for that. You belong here with us, creating from “no comprendo a sense of ‘si’”.
