Obituary of Michael Brophy

Michael Brophy, 58, of Haverstraw, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 15, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 24, 1963 to Martin and Roseanne Brophy of Haverstraw, NY. Michael graduated from North Rockland High School in 1981 and worked at Pearson Education for over 25 years. He was a big fan of many things – his Family, the Yankees, the Jets, the beach, the Haverstraw Elks, NYC, Florida, and sweet snacks. Michael is survived by his three children, Elizabeth Brophy of Stony Point, Michael Brophy and Daniel Brophy of Pearl River, his siblings Maryanne Slain of Wallingford, CT, Martin (Annemarie) of Stony Point, Matthew of Lincoln NE, and James of Garnerville, his niece and nephews – Brittney, Sean, Kevin, Paul & Scott. Michael was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Roseanne Brophy, and his brother Kevin. The family will receive friends & relatives on Sunday, April 18th from 4-8pm at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home at 133 Broadway Haverstraw, NY. A Christian Mass will be offered on Monday, April 19th at 11am at St. Peters Church in Haverstraw, NY, followed by a private cremation at his wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael’s memory to the Joe Raso Hospice Residence in New City, NY.
