Obituary of Zeltha Marie Zugibe

Zeltha Marie Zugibe passed away on April 7th, 2021 with courage and grace, surrounded by herfamily she loved so much. Marie, as she was mostly called, was born on September 11, 1931 in West Virginia to the late Charlie Bibey and Vergie Lee Taylor Bibey.  

As a very gutsy 16 years old Marie, not satisfied with farm life, boarded a train to find a more adventurous future in New York. In 1949, on a blind date she met the late Victor P Zugibe.  They married in 1950 and built the life she wanted. She is survived by her children; son Victor P. Zugibe Jr.and wife Linda, of Stony Point, NY, daughter, Patricia Zugibe & husband Jack Holt, of Upper Grandview, NY and daughter Paula Bertolino and husband John of Blowing Rock, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, whom she cherished; Victor P Zugibe III (Brianne), Kaitlyn Zugibe & Catherine Higgins (Mike); and great granddaughter, Kinsley Zugibe. Marie is predeceased by her sister Letha Lindamood andher brother Kenneth Bibey.

Marie had a vigor for life and an unrelenting work ethic, which she also fostered in others.  She always had a project underway and managed to round up helpers to accomplish her task.  She was never afraid to get her hands dirty, even in a pantsuit.  She exuded class, elegance, strength, and showed us all what an independent woman can achieve.  

A private celebration of her life by her family will take place at a later date.  Her family is so very thankful to Hospice of Rockland and their partners for their loving support.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marie’s name to Hospice of Rockland.
