Obituary of Helen M. Niminski

In Loving Memory of Helen Niminski who passed away at the age of 91 on November 4, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born April 8, 1928 and raised in the Bronx by her parents John Daly and Marie Aherne. Helen attended St. Luke’s and Walton High Schools. On July 26, 1947, Helen married the love of her life, Eugene Niminksi and they went on to enjoy 72 incredible years together with Helen taking care of her family as a devoted and loving wife and mother to their children: Patricia (Al) Calvano of Fort Myers, FL, Kenneth Niminski of Garnerville, NY and Robert Niminski of Tomkins Cove, NY. Helen was predeceased by her son Richard, daughter Laura as well as her brother Jack Daly. She also leaves behind her sister Marie “Tootsie” Killeen, brother-in-law Mike, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Helen’s faith in God never wavered, even after the loss of two of her children at an early age. She took great joy in life from holidays in Paris as well as trips to London and Ireland and many other European destinations. Most of all, Helen will be remembered for her love of family and friends and the pleasure she had when they all gathered, especially her grandchildren, Christopher Lightfoot, Wynter Lightfoot and Brian Niminski.

The family will receive friends at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019 from 2pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church in Garnerville on Friday, Nov. 8 at 11am. Burial will be held privately at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 9.
