Obituary of Joseph P. Squillante

Joseph P. Squillante, 82, of Stony Point, NY passed away on March 7, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born on Feb. 28, 1932 in New York City. Joseph, a master carpenter and cabinet maker, operated a home improvement business in North Rockland for over forty years. An avid hunter, he loved the outdoors and his trips to Colorado. Joe is survived by his loving wife Pauline who was his partner and soul mate. Joe was the beloved Dad to his children Diane (Raymond) Otte of Middletown, Joseph (Amy) Squillante of Stony Point, Alexandria (Raymond) Wunderlich of Stony Point, Donna (Hollis) Griffin of Stony Point, Ellen (Dave) Barbera of Garnerville, Robert (Michele) Curtis of Garnerville; beloved Grandpa to his eleven cherished and beautiful grandchildren Gina, Brandy, Raymond, John, Hollis, Jennifer, Rachel, Jaclyn, Alex, David, and Cassie, as well as his nine adored great grandchildren Shayla, Trysta, Jayce, Brayden, Jacob, Adrianna, Joey, Madelyn and Griffin. Joseph was predeceased by his sisters Angelina and Josephine, as well as his brothers Charles, Albert, Alfonse, Basil, George, and Arthur. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Catherine Squillante. He loved his many nieces and nephews dearly. It was the rare family or school event that Joe missed for anyone in the family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew & loved him. The family will receive friends & relatives on Sunday March 9th between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the TJ McGowan & Sons Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be held for Joseph on Monday, March 10th at 10 AM in St. Peter's Church in Haverstraw. Interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery, New Hempstead, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital.
