Obituary of Carl Richard

Carl Lee Richard of Pomona NY passed away on January 29, 2024 with his family by his side at the age of 84. He was born in Lexington KY on January 27, 1940. He was the son of the late Robert Lee Sr. and Addie Mae Richard. 

He graduated from Lexington Dunbar High in 1959. Carl worked for Haverstraw Stony Point CSD as a custodian and was self- employed with a Cleaning Service, a Retail Liquor Store and a B & B for many years. Carl was always a hard worker and juggled the responsibilities of work without complaint. He worked two jobs until he retired in 2018. 

Carl was one of a kind! He was unique in his ways; strong willed; private and quiet. He didn’t talk much, but sometimes when he did he would say something funny. 

In the latter years of his life, he bravely faced the challenges of Alzheimer's disease. But he’s is at peace now and free from its’ clutch.

Carl is survived by: His partner and friend of 42 years Beverly Hunter; His sons: Bobby Richard, Carl Lee Richard Jr. and Timothy (Rhonda) Mack; His daughters: Angel Richard, Tara (Britain) Ingram, Lisa Guy, Doreen (Rick) Blair, Angela (Earnest) Turner, Carla (David) Sweat and Marla Parham. His Brothers: Robert Richard Jr., Joseph (Angela) Richard, Jeffery (Karen) Richard and his SisterCecilia (Phillip) Pinkston. Carl is preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Richard and John (Inez) Richard and his sister Ira Jean Smith. In addition he leaves his nephew Charles Gaines III, Cousin Naomi Johnson and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins and friends to cherish his memories.

The viewing will be held at 2:00 PM February 7 at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home 133 Broadway Haverstraw, NY. All are welcome to freely express themselves, say a prayer, or read a poem.
