Obituary of Julius Redling

Julius (Jules) Redling, of West Haverstraw, NY, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023. He was 80 years old. He was born in Ganna, Hungary on June 9th, 1943, later moving to his childhood home of Karlsruhe, Germany. The youngest of 5 children, Jules had 3 brothers, Mathias, George, and Joe and sister, Vronie. Jules attended a trade school in Germany where he learned his craft of house painting, which he held as a career for over 50 years. He moved to the United States in the 1960s and went on to earn full citizenship. Jules was married to Joan Redling (nee Bibbo) on April 29th, 1973, and they eventually moved to Haverstraw, NY, to raise their 3 children. He was always known as a kind person with a good heart who never wanted to inconvenience others. Jules was an avid New York sports fan, but was happy to watch any game from youth, to college, to professional levels. His passion for sports led him to become a volunteer umpire with the Haverstraw Little League for over 25 years, for which he was inducted into the District 18 Volunteer Umpire Hall of Fame in 2014.

While sports was Jules’s passion, it was only exceeded by his love of spending time with family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan, sons Jim and his wife, Mimi; Tom and his wife, Miriam; and Nick and his wife, Bonnie. Jules is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Vanessa, Anthony, David, Matthew, Andrew, and Isabelle and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brothers Mathias and George, and sister Vronie. Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 9th from 4-8PM at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 North Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. Mass will be held on Friday, November 10th at 11:15AM, Saint Peter’s Church in Haverstraw, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Haverstraw Little League, P.O.
