Gloria Crapanzano

Obituary of Gloria M. Crapanzano

Gloria M. Crapanzano, 89, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023 after spending her final week at the Joe Raso Hospice Home with her family by her side every day. She was born on October 13, 1933.

Gloria (Capodilupo) was predeceased by her husband, Vincent (2019). Gloria and Vinny were childhood sweethearts and were married on September 12, 1953. She was predeceased by her parents Ralph and Helen Capodilupo and her son-in-law Mike O’Hara. Gloria is survived by her sister Adele Sommers (formerly of Stony Point, NY) and her sister Winifred Meyer and brother Rafael Capodilupo. She is also survived by her children: Diane and George Wanamaker (Rockland, MA);  Joseph and Sally (Chesapeake, VA); Vincent and Sandra (Washingtonville, NY); Thomas (Stony Point); and Susan O’Hara (Stony Point).

Gloria enjoyed her grandchildren: Jennifer Gamerman (Adam);  Kristen Wanamaker;  Joseph (Brianna); Anna; Kristina Bitts (Dan); Stephen (Gina); Randolph, “RJ” Arana; Daniel, Bella, and Nick; Julianne, Michael, and Alexis (O’Hara); and seven great grandchildren: Jack and Madelyn (Gamerman); Lizzy and Ava;  Daniel and Helena (Bitts); and Grayson.

Gloria and Vinny left the Bronx and moved to Rockland County, settling in Stony Point in 1964. Both were parishioners at Immaculate Conception Church since that time. Vinny served as an usher at the church and was involved with the Men’s Club for nearly 50 years. Gloria walked the Wood Avenue hill to church every Sunday.

Gloria raised her five children and then began to work outside of the home at Provident Savings Bank for many years and then at the State Farm Insurance Agency in Stony Point.

Gloria enjoyed painting and ceramics and spending time with friends and family. She also leaves behind her longtime friend and neighbor Margaret Finn.

The Bronx couple borrowed a neighbor’s tent and took the family to Maine for a weeklong camping adventure in the 1960s, which turned into a lifelong activity as the tent changed over to a pop up camper and graduated to a Winnebago in the 1990s.

There will be a viewing at McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 75 North Central Highway, Garnerville NY on Sunday, September 17, from 2-6 and a Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point at 10 am on Monday, September 18th, followed by burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Haverstraw.
