Obituary of John B. Kroog

John B. Kroog passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 2, 2023.  He was 73 years old.  

John was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 16, 1949 to Charles and Catherine (Timms) Kroog.  He worked for the NewYork Stock Exchange for 43 years, proudly earning his membership to the Quarter of the Century Club.   At the time of his retirement, he was the Director of Market Surveillance at theNew York Stock Exchange.  

John served in the United States Airforce from May 1968 until May of 1974.  He was stationed in Japan, South Korea andMontana.  He left the military with the rank of Sergeant.  While working at the New York Stock Exchange John continued his education at both the New York Institute of Technology and the New York Institute of Finance.

John met his beloved wife, Nancy (Ross) of almost 49 years, when he returned from the service.  John and Nancy resided in Broad Channel New York until 1994 before moving to Stony Point New York.  John loved his New York sports teams and spent many hours happily working on projects around his home and in the yard. He was a member of the American Legion of Broad Channel.  John and Nancy enjoyed traveling together, bike riding on local trails and spending time with their grandchildren.  

John is survived by his 5 loving children Matthew (Marlene) of Fishkill, NY Patrick (Kira) of Oakland New Jersey, Katie Birish (Thomas) of Port Jervis, New York, Michael (Sarah) of Stony Point, New York and Operation Specialist Petty Officer First Class Sara Kroog United States Coast Guard, currently out of Newport Rhode Island.  He will forever be remembered by hisgrandchildren; Aidan, Marin, Malon, Connor, Timothy, Charlie, Makenzie, Kassidy.  John is survived by his siblings; Kathleen (Ed) Lawless, Sharron Magnussen, and brother James (Kathleen), and many nieces and nephews.

John is predeceased by his parents Charles and Catherine, andhis brother Charles Joseph Kroog Jr.

Family will receive visitors on Friday September 8th from 4-8 PM at TJ McGowen Sons Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY.  A mass will be held at 11 AM on Saturday September 9th at Immaculate Conception Church, 26 John Street Stony Point, New York.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnel to Towers or a charity of your choice.
