Obituary of Mary A. Accattato
Mary A. Accattato of West Haverstraw passed away peacefully on April 27, 2023 at the age of 91. Mary was born in the Bronx on January 24, 1932 to Rose and Frank Hoffmann. Mary graduated from Cathedral High School in Manhattan.
She was married to Carlo S. Accattato on May 19, 1956 at St. Joan of Arc in the Bronx, had four children, and moved to West Haverstraw in 1972.
Mary was a faithful parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo in Garnerville for over 50 years. She was also a member of The Red Hat Society. Mary worked at Kodak in Manhattan for many years, Pantry Pride, C.H. Martins, and the Marian Shrine gift shop. Mary loved cooking, traveling, cruising, knitting, crocheting, saying the rosary and spending as much time as she could with any of her many grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her four children: Carlo (Zoraida) Accattato, Michael (Maria) Accattato, Anthony (Patricia) Accattato and Regina (Nick) DiCara; her fifteen grandchildren, Paul (Molly), Michael, Nicholas (Amy), Joseph, Vincent, Maria (Ozzy), Gianna, Carlo Matthew (Kristen), Carlo Louis, Adrianna, Sarah (Decatur), Andrea, Angelo, Matthew, and Emily; her four great-grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Carlo; her parents Rose and Frank; her sisters Anna (Vick), Francis (Andy), and brother Frankie (Eileen).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at T.J. McGowans Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Gregory Barbarigo. Interment to follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
