Nancy Margiotta

Obituary of Nancy Joan Margiotta

Nancy J. Margiotta, 75, of Thiells, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2022 with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Peter T. Margiotta, married for 52 wonderful years, and the devoted mother of Lisa (Dan) Linehan, Lori (William) McElmoyle, and Anthony (Laura) Margiotta. Nancy was the proud and loving grandmother to Danny, Kellie, Tommy, Luke, Liam, Elliott, Scarlett, Brody, Bristol, and Pacey.

Nancy was born in Bronx, NY on May 22, 1947, moved to Pomona, NY during high school, and graduated from Spring Valley High School. She attended Hunter College (now Lehman College) and received her degree in teaching in 1969. She taught kindergarten at Richard P. Connor Elementary School for most of her 33 year teaching career. She took great pride in teaching her young students, creating a warm, joyful classroom environment where each student felt special and loved.

Nancy met Peter on her 18th birthday in Stony Point. They were married on August 8, 1970 at St. Boniface in Pomona, and celebrated their golden anniversary in 2020. Their marriage exemplified devotion to one another and their family, loyalty and faithfulness. They were true partners in life and were rarely apart.

Nancy was a devout Catholic and found great comfort in praying the rosary and spending time at the Marian Shrine. She enjoyed reading, especially to her grandchildren, gardening, and cooking. Nancy took great joy in gathering her family each year for a delicious Thanksgiving meal. Her grandchildren will always remember her delicious chocolate chip cookies that she brought to every family event and her world-class lasagna. She and Peter enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida during the winter and the special trips to Alaska, Hawaii, and the Caribbean with friends. Grandma Nancy treasured spending time with her ten grandchildren and cheering them on at their many sporting events. She loved vacationing with her family at Woodloch Pines in the Poconos, and on Long Beach Island.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Esther Ettinger, her sisters Janice Lorello, June Valois, Barbara Sullivan, and Judy D’Armiento, and also by her loving nephew, Jimmy and niece, Eileen. She is survived by her brother, Arthur (Kathy) Ettinger, and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
