Obituary of Lori E. Rau

Lori E. Rau passed away peacefully on January 30, 2022. She was 54 years old. Lori was born in Suffern, NY to Gerald and Patricia (Gould) Rau. She was a graduate of North Rockland High School. 

For the last 16 years, Lori has lived in Salem, Massachusetts with her sister and best friend Kelli. Lori loved all the mystical and magical aspects of Salem and its proximity to the water. During her years there, she worked for LEK Consulting where she made many wonderful friends. 

She loved almost everything in nature but flowers were her passion. She loved any and all flowers and when asked which was her favorite, she’d say “I love them all”.

Lori’s other love was the beach, especially the ocean. She loved to ride the waves and was a true mermaid. She cherished her time at the Jersey Shore (LBI & Wildwood), Rockaway Beach and most recently Cancun. 

Lori had many interests from flower arranging to reading to music and travel. She loved the excitement of exploring a new city. She was blessed with many amazing friends in her short lifetime. 

She was vibrant, generous, sassy, adventurous and had the biggest heart.  We will all miss dearly. That infectious laugh and feisty personality.

Lori is pre-deceased by her parents Gerald and Patricia Rau, her sister Patricia Waters and brother in law Gerald, her uncle Jack and Aunt Peggy and her cousin John Rau. 

She is survived by her sister Kelli Rau, her sister Linda Rau Hunt and husband Ed, her brother Gerald and his wife Patricia, her nephew Jerry and nieces Kristen, Christine, Patricia, and Michelle and several great nieces and nephews. She had a special bond with all of them. Lori adored them and loved being silly and making them laugh. 

Friends and family may call from 3pm - 7pm on Sunday, February 6 at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville. Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Lori’s memory: https://www.nccc-online.org/
