Obituary of Mary M. Lyons

Mary M. Lyons, 88, of Garnerville, NY gained her well-deserved angel wings on December 5, 2021. Mary was surrounded by love, listening to Irish music with her children by her side when the Lord called her home.

Mary was born to Catherine (Bradley) and John F. Henry on May 18, 1933 in the Bronx. She graduated from St. Catherine’s Academy and attended Fordham University. Mary worked as a travel agent for over 20 years at Ramapo Travel, Suffern, NY until her retirement in 1997.

She married the late Thomas W. Lyons in 1954 at Sacred Heart Church in the Bronx and relocated to Garnerville in 1962.

Mary is survived by her 3 children: Geralynn of Garnerville, Thomas (Ta-G) of Austin, TX and Marian Ordonez (Marcus) of Los Lunas, NM. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren Donovan, Diego, Olivia, and Thomas, her brother John F. Henry, her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and “The Circle People”. Mary was predeceased by her husband Thomas, her partner John C. Hargen, and her sister Catherine Hind.

Visiting will be held on Tuesday, December 7th from 4pm-8pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Haverstraw, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 8th, 10:15am at St. Peter’s Church, Haverstraw, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Haverstraw Ambulance Corps, 160 North Route 9W, Haverstraw, NY 10927, Attn: Donations.
