Obituary of Gerald R. Rau

Gerald R. Rau passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 17, 2021.  He was 82 years old.  Gerald was born in New York City on March 22, 1939 to Madeleine and John Rau.  He attended Power Memorial Academy on a baseball scholarship and was invited to try out for the NY Giants Baseball Team.  He worked as a Metal Lather for Local 46 for over 42 years.  He loved his job, spending many of these years as a well-respected foreman. He was also a proud Army Veteran.  Gerald married the love of his life, Patricia Gould Rau on June 4, 1960.  

Gerald was die-hard NY Giants and NY Yankees fan.  He loved watching both of his teams play.  Gerald was a kind, generous and loving Dad and PopPop and his family will miss him every day.  He was also blessed with many friends during his lifetime.  

Gerald is pre-deceased by his wife Patricia, his daughter Patricia Waters, his son-in-law Gerald Waters, his parents, his brother John Rau, his sister-in-law Margaret Rau and his nephew John.  He is survived by his daughter Linda Hunt and her husband Ed, his son Gerald Rau and his wife Patricia, his daughters Lori Rau and Kelli Rau.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Jerry, Kristen, Christine, Patricia and Michelle and his great grandchildren Olivia, Lucy, Theo, Lily and Nathan and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and Family may call on Friday, April 23 from 4-8pm at TJ McGowan Sons FH, Garnerville, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 24 at Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point, NY at 10am.  Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
