Obituary of Fabian Perez Jr.

Fabian Perez Jr., 77, of Stony Point passed away peacefully in his home on March 22, 2020.  He was born in 1942 in the Bronx, NY to his father Fabian Perez Sr. and mother Marianna. Fabian married Gladys Lafonte on May 29, 1971.  He adored his wife unconditionally for almost 49 years.  

Fabian is predeceased by his son James (Jamie) Perez but is survived by his daughter-in-law Lisa (Roberti) and granddaughters Taylor, Sydney and Emma.  He is also survived by his granddaughter Nicole Munroe (Perez) and husband Brian along with his great-grandchildren Violet, Rex and Rider. Fabian was a beloved friend and neighbor to many members of the North Rockland community.  His sense of humor and generosity made him truly unforgettable to everyone he met. Fabian was department manager at Lowe’s Hardware before having to retire after surviving a heart attack in 2016. 

Fabian was devoted in his involvement in Haverstraw Little League, serving as Board President (1988-1989, 1991-1995 & 1997-1998) and holding a position as an Honorary Life Member of the Board of Directors.  He was awarded the Nick Picariello Award in 1989 which is given to those who demonstrate loyal and dedicated service to the league. Fabian served as coach of the Haverstraw Mets for a number of years, which allowed him to touch many young lives.  In addition to his love of sports, Fabian was a longtime member of St. Gregory’s Parish and the Knights of Columbus #581.

Given the current circumstances and limitations on public gatherings, the family is delaying memorial services.  Arrangements will be made as soon as possible.
