Obituary of Noe Hamer

Noe Hamer, of West Haverstraw, formerly a 35-year resident of New York City, passed away suddenly and tragically on February 6, 2020, at the age of 42.

Noe was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico on July 4, 1977.  He attended the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service and graduated with degrees in Applied Science and Mortuary Science in 1999. He was a Licensed Funeral Director in both New York and New Jersey. He was fluent in both Spanish and English and held his Mexican heritage with pride to serve the Latin community. He was a Knight of Columbus and had recently achieved his Third Degree. He also belonged to the Haverstraw Elks. He worked in every aspect of the industry until his final role as General Manager of T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Haverstraw and Garnerville. His role as the General Manager transformed a mere business into his community's true center of healing and warmth. Amongst his many services to the community he offered casino trips for the senior citizens, training and certification in CPR and Narcan, as well as many other free services to help and educate his community.

Noe was passionate about his work and was always thinking and dreaming about how to help honor the lives of everyone he assisted. Noe never turned away a family for lack of funds and served them despite their means. He always found a way to provide dignified burials for all. He assisted in sending babies to heaven by providing their burial services for free.

On September 1, 2019, Noe married his true queen and soulmate, his adoring bride Rosalinda, whom he worshiped and adored above all else in his life. They lived happily together in West Haverstraw. Noe was his mother's primary care taker. He also cared for his three beloved pitbulls: Candy, Cotton and Sugar. He absolutely loved spoiling his dogs. He was a diehard San Francisco 49ers fan and of course watched them play in this year’s Super Bowl at a joyful party he and Rosa threw for his friends and colleagues. In his very limited free time, Noe loved to save stray turtles and dogs from the street. He was also fond of cigars, tinkering with wristwatches, and his Motorcycle. He lived to make people laugh and made it his life's mission to improve the lives of everyone he encountered. Noe's tenacity, passion, work ethic and dedication fueled his selfless acts of kindness. He was a true role model and a friend to all.

Noe is survived by his beloved wife Rosalinda Hamer; his loving mother Luisa Hamer; his cherished siblings: George (Jenny) Hamer, Rosalba Hamer, Rosaysela (Mario) Hernandez, and Ruby (Michael) Hamer; his beloved nieces and nephew: Gina, Darcy (Brendan), Amber, Emma, Christopher and by his three dogs Candy, Cotton and Sugar, as well as countless friends and colleagues. He is predeceased by his father George Hamer.

Noe’s family will receive friends and relatives at T.J. MCGOWAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY on Thursday, February 13 and Friday, February 14, 2020 from 3-9PM both evenings. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Noe on Saturday, February 15 at 10AM at St. Peter’s & St. Mary’s Church, 115 Broadway, Haverstraw, with interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Haverstraw. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may donate in Noe’s memory to Hi-Tor Animal Shelter, 65 Firemens Memorial Dr, Pomona, NY 10970.

In honor of Noe, guests are encouraged to attend the visitation wearing San Francisco 49ers gear.
