Uncle Angelo was a kind and generous person, nd had a unique personality. He was always carefree and jovial. His claim to fame was his delicious baked bread and focaccia which he distributed to family and friends.
Uncle Angelo was always great to be around. He always had a joke and lots of interesting stories to tell. He memory was amazing to the end. He also had a passion for crossword puzzles.
Born in Giovinazzo, Italy on September 24, 1924. From the age of 10 he worked at his father's oven (people at that time did not have house ovens so they brought their food to the commercial over to be baked). Uncle Angelo had a flat head and that was attributed to the fact that he delivered the baked goods to the customers on his head. This was an amazing feat as he would carry the deliveries on a very large pan on his bike. Now that was truly a balancing act.
He immigrated to Venezuela in 1947 and then immigrated to the United States in 1971. He lived with my parents , Frank and Anna Maria Polacco in Mount Vernon for the next twenty-five years. In 1996 my parents moved to Rockland County and after living there about a year or so, he decided to return to Mount Vernon where he resided until his passing.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends. All who came in contact with him could not help but like him.
We all feel your loss immensely. Thankfully the memories remain.
