Obituary of Roxann Theresa Cusick

Roxann Theresa Cusick, born on December 11, 1953, departed this life on November 17, 2019. She leaves her mother, Hilda Mandler Cusick of Garnerville, NY; her sisters Paula (Rob) Clark of Old Saybrook, CT, Carol (David) Moore of Evansville, IN, and her brother John J. (Stacey) Cusick of Cuddebackville, NY. Roxy was predeceased by her father Paul, and by her grandparents: Anna and Frank Cusick, and Henrietta and Samuel Mandler.

Roxy also leaves her nieces and nephews: Edward and Amanda Rummel, William and Keith Fox, Thor, Paul and Erik Cusick, and Melissa Moore Sizemore. She also leaves an extended family of housemates and caregivers with whom she shared many years of friendship at ARC.

Roxy will always be remembered for her love of Italian food, and for her voracious desire to cover her wrists and fingers with baubles and bangles. She loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! In all the years that Roxy was with us, she had a chance to experience good things in life. She took exciting vacations, received her Holy Confirmation and Communion with the help of the nuns and priests at St. Gregory Barbarigo Parish. She went to school, had a job, loved crafts and participated in the Special Olympics.

Roxann’s family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, November 22, 2019 at T.J. MCGOWAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral mass will be held for Roxy at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, 21 Cinder Rd., Garnerville on Saturday, November 23 at 11 AM, with interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Haverstraw. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roxy’s memory to: ARC of Rockland, or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

The family has requested that friends bring one flower to the visitation as an expression of your love.
