Obituary of Joan L Fasano

Joan L. Fasano, 85, of Stony Point passed away on May 1, 2019 at Sunrise Assisted Living in New City. She was born on May 26, 1933 in Teaneck, NJ to John and Anna (Kunik) Svitanek. Joan worked for the Palisades Park Commission at Bear Mountain for over 30 years.   

Joan was married to the love of her life, the late Felice (Phil) Fasano for 52 years. She is also predeceased by 1 sister and 2 brothers.  Joan is survived by her 3 children:  Patty Byrnes of Merriam, KS, Butch (Bernadette) Fasano of Stony Point, and Jeanne (Bruce) Kimbark of Montgomery.  She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren (Katy, Bruce, Christine, Anthony, John, and Ryan) along with 9 precious great grandchildren.  Joan was a devoted mother who loved spending time with her family, particularly vacationing yearly in Lake George and watching her grandchildren play sports. She loved to knit and crochet and gifted all family members with blankets from adults to children which still last today. Joan will be truly missed by all.  A special thanks to her special friend and caregiver Catherine (Claire).  

The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, May 5th from 2 – 4 & 7 - 9 PM at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville, NY.    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Joan on Monday, May 6th at 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point with interment to follow at the F. Loescher Veterans Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY. In lieu of flowers donations can be in Joan’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
