Mike - I still struggle so much to come to terms with this. I was just starting off in the corporate world when our paths crossed and you were such a good friend. I remember your fun loving, strong character so well - even after we lost touch. You will be missed.

I worked with Mike for the past decade, and we looked forward to working together for the next three and a half years as we faced new challenges in our jobs. He was a great manager and a great guy. We had a working relationship that was more like a partnership. We complimented each other's strengths and weaknesses. I respected his intelligence, his judgement and his leadership, his ability to stay focused on what needed to be accomplished, his exceptional memory, and the uncanny ability to find that one piece of paper among the large pile of printouts in his office. He did like to print out everything.
He always had your back, and to use Mike's words, he was the type of guy you'd want in the foxhole with you. I'll miss all his stories he'd tell about growing up in the Bronx, or the ones about when he first started working at IBM. One of the more recent stories just a couple weeks ago was about the IBM interviewing manager telling Mike that he probably wasn't going to be a good fit for the company, but he'd send his name along anyway. Well, it turns out Mike was an excellent fit.
Mike, you made a difference and you will not be forgotten and you will be missed.
My prayers and thoughts go out to your family.

My heartfelt condolences to you all. I will always remember sharing an office with Mike and how he always brightened my day. We grew to be such good friends, which led me to be able to meet and spend some time with you all. A strong, beautiful, loving family, whom Mike cherished and loved so much. His infectious laugh and smile will stay with me forever. I was truly blessed to know and love him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My friend,
So many timeless memories watching our sons play this game that we love so much. Your insight and passion for the game was only exceeded by your commitment to your amazing sons and their participation in all that they love. So supportive a father, I learned from you. My family fell in love with yours as an extension of ours. Your sons, more like brothers to mine, enriched our times together.
You had this knack of reminding me that we were so very similar in that NY mindset. I will miss you for the rest of my days. I will think of you with love and respect. Becky, Manny, Ryan and I will keep you in our hearts and continue to love your children as the family they have become over these years.
Jake and Dylan, know that you are loved by the Carreras family. Your Dad was more than his time here defined. Our deepest sympathies and condolences to the entire Ciorra clan. We are here for anything that you need. Rest in Peace, my friend. Until we meet again. ❤

Mike was colleague, manager, ally, and friend. I live in Vermont and worked "remotely" for Mike. We kept track of who "owed" the other the bigger favor and therefore had to pay for sandwiches the next time he came to Vermont. He had a sneaky way of getting me to tackle tough problems by making me feel valuable. When I was hyper he calmed me down, when I was down he pepped me up. What more can you ask of a friend? I miss you, Mike!

Mike. What to say? The Best Man at more weddings than I can recall, and certainly would have been Best Man at mine if I ever went that route.
His moral compass always true, and always a gentleman. Many times I thought, "if I could be that guy..." Truly a model man one could...should...aspire to be like.
Not raised with religion myself, I hadn't thought much about what might be next. It was indeed comforting and fun to hear our friends imagine Mikey stepping through some doorway in Heaven and my dopey Brother greeting him with a big "Hey!..."
And if there is an "up there," Mike certainly is there. My Mom will be very glad to see good ole' Mike as well.
My best friend. A solid guy. The most solid guy. You will be missed. You cannot be replaced. I'm happy to have shared the trail with you for as long as we did. The best days, the darkest days, all were better knowing you were there.
Goodbye my friend.
-Mark

I am so sad to be here writing this note. It’s hard for me to even believe Mike is gone. I will miss his big, bright smile greeting me at every baseball and basketball game our boys played together. He was one of the most enthusiastic fans on the sideline, and games will not be nearly as fun without him. I loved watching how excited he got watching his boys play. He loved watching them play.
One of the things I loved most about Mike was how kind and friendly he was to me. It didn’t matter if it was after a long drive, a long day, or a long week, Mike would go out of his way to smile, say hello, and strike up a conversation. I will miss him.
My heart goes out to both Jake and Dylan and the rest of your family, and I hope on some level you can feel all of our thoughts being directed your way. Our family loves those boys so much and wishes more than anything that we could do something to ease your heart ache.
Much love to all of you during this terrible time,
Christine

My deepest sympathies,
Mike and I worked together at IBM back in 1999 to 2001. I was in Finance and Mike was in Accounting. Not only did we work together, we were roommates in Danbury. Mike is a honest, fun loving guy, with a querky laugh, which always make us laugh. He is missed. Our Family prayers go out to your family.
