Obituary of Flora Watson

Flora M. Watson, 85, of Stony Point, New York passed away on August 24, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Flora was born on November 25, 1931 in the Bronx, NY to the late Charles and Elizabeth Diven. Flora grew up during the Depression Era with fond memories of her childhood. She married the love of her life, Delmer ("Scotty") Watson on June 8, 1952. They moved to Rockland County in 1960 where she raised four wonderful children. Flora worked for the North Rockland School District for over 40 years in Administration and Guidance. In her earlier years she was very involved with the Marian Shrine. Flora's passion was gardening and decorating for the holidays where each room reflected her creativity. She was an awesome cook who loved to have big Sunday dinners with her family. Anyone who knew Flora will miss her dynamic smile and fun loving ways. She was a kind and generous person who did an incredible job raising her family. Her children were her life. Flora was the rock that held her family together through tragedy and triumph. She will be missed dearly by all and her memory will live on forever in our hearts. Flora is survived by her loving daughters: Kathy Watson of Stony Point, NY; Flora (John) Sablich of Central Valley, NY; Doreen (Paul) Battaglia of Campbell Hall, NY; her devoted grandchildren: Robert Hobbs; Kristen Higgins; Scott Watson, Jr.; ToniAnn Battaglia; Brianna & Jessica Sablich; Michael, Nicholas & Joey Battaglia; her cherished great-grandchildren: Bobby, Abby and (soon to be) Danny; and by her brother, Steve Diven. Flora is predeceased by her devoted husband, Delmer Watson; her son, Scott Watson; and her brothers, Charles & Howard Diven. Flora's family will receive friends and relatives at T.J. McGOWAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, 71 N. Central Highway, GARNERVILLE, NY, on Sunday, August 27 and Monday, August 28, 2017, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Flora on Tuesday, August 29 at 10 AM at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, Garnerville, with interment to follow at Mt. Repose Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY.
