Obituary of Richard Martel

Richard Martel, 59, of Garnerville, New York passed away on February 15th 2018 in the presence of his loving family. He was born on August 15, 1957 in Queens, New York. At 18 years of age Richard decided to join the United States Army where he served for 6 years until he was Honorably Discharged in 1981. Richard met the love of his life Helen (Denise) Katenkamp in the Robert L. Yeager Nursing home where they worked together. Tony had a passion for the boy Scouts he taught the EMT Programs in Westchester he worked for the Hudson Valley Ambulance division also a lieutenant in the Nanuet Ambulance Corp, and Volunteer in the West Nyack Fire Department. Tony's pasttime was spending time outdoors camping, hiking, shooting and just being out in the water but his true commitment was to his family. Tony is predeceased by his parents and his brother Gregory Martel. Richard is survived by his loving wife of over 25 years Denise Martel his Step son Scott Millar his granddaughter Rosalie Millar and his faithful companions Mittens, Bandit and Missy. Tony's memorial service will be held at the T.J McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY 71 N. Central Highway on Saturday February 24 between the hours of 3pm till 6pm. Rev. Warren Brandt will be officiating the service at 5pm.
